An unusual photograph showing an artillery unit using cows to tow its
artillery. Maintaining the momentum of an advance was vital to success
and, without transport, the whole advance might stall. For this reason
the Germans utilised whatever they could from animal draught, trucks
to tracked vehicles to tow or carry artillery to the forward edge of
the battlefield
