30 November 1941-The offensive effort of the 4th Army is of short
duration and is more like a simple demonstration to maintain positions
on the central sector of the front. Among the units that attack is the
Legion of Volunteers French 3rd within the 638 IR. It happens on the
front line on November 24, 1941;
It is attached the 7 Infantry Division. (Bavarian). The LVF remains at
the front from 24 to 30 November, in a calm sector, outside the
village of Ojukovo. It is in this sector that were taken these
pictures. Quiet allows a the unit to grow accustomed to conditions in
the East and have a few skirmishes with Russian troops.
Here, a canon anti-tank Pak 36/37 is fixed to a typically Russian
hitch. It is noted that the men wear on their right sleeve a tricolor
over the word France.
