Probably a flipped negative in the printing of the magazine.
Always a pet peeve of mine. I usually tried to straighten it out when I
scanned something, but deciding which way was correct was always
problematical. Basically I went with whichever way was most common in the
pictorial, but if four pics had it one way and four the other ......
