Interesting idea. At first, I was guessing some kind of telephone remote
speaker-mike maybe but I don't even know if anyone made such an
accessory back then. It's suggested that it was a slide viewer sort of
thing which sort of clicks because its shape vaguely resembles the shape
of one that I had once except mine was plastic with a smaller base.
