Max, if this helps for labelling purposes, I have seen these referred to as
"Anime Novel" when they do books like these with mainstream anime. If you
swing by chain bookstores for instance, there's a TON of Naruto works out
there that are done like this (they use cels from the anime and add speech
balloons and sound effects and then sell it as a colour comic).
