Sure does.
What I find iteresting, then and now, is how 16:10 slowly
disappeared and people jumped onboard whole-heartedly and with both
feet onto 16:9. I still don't completely understand.
I bought, a long time ago, a monitor @1680x1050 and I like
that perspective. #1 After experiencing what I have, why would I
want to go shorter-and-wider? A long, long time ago, some movies came
in cinematic view(I think is what it was called). You had a wider
view, but black borders on the top and bottom. I don't think too many
people wanted that at home, including me. And that is what 1080
always reminds me of. :-/
#2 It's easier for a video card to push the smaller amount of
pixels. 1,764,000 vs. 2,073,600. A difference of 309,600 pixels.
That has kept me, I'm sure, of having to update my gaming pc...and
there's NEVER a good time to buy/build a new computer. There's always
some new tech in the pipeline you'll want.
My point: "What took you so fucking long?!" Don't worry
about those 1680's. I still like 'em. :-)
