My experience of high perf disks (outwith enterprise raid systems), is
that they didn't provide me with value for money. I paid a very high
premium for very little performance benefit.
If the disk is not being utilised for processing high I/O (graphics
processing/database analytics), its benefits to me were wasted. Simple
store and retrieve/playback does not, for me, justify the premium.
I'd tend to go for the capacity offered in the WD Blue range. In a
single disk system, warranties to me are useless. If the disk goes my
data is toast :-(. But if you buy two and set up a mirror/raid, it
gives piece of mind if a disk does go south.
