The background reminds me of a story I saw on 60 Minutes about
a world sand shortage. The world needs sand to make concrete and
there's a shortage. I don't know why they don't use up some of the
excess coal ash. Looks like there's plenty of sand here!
The reason why so many of the ancient Roman structures have
endured is because they mixed in volcanic ash(very similar to coal
ash) and that made for a tighter crystalline structure within their
concrete. So why aren't we doing that today? We don't want things to
last???
