I'll keep the Hue angle in mind. As for replacing the background, have
you tried Replace Color under Image>Adjustments. Select the color of
your background and the use the Lightness slider to lighten the color.
Keep the Fuzziness in most cases under 100. This method works well on
a text page.
Also take a look at the Match Color dialog box Neutralize check box
and or the sliders above it. Matching it with another open image is a
50/50 shot. It will either give you a great image or one that look
like hell. Most of the time I just use the Neutralize box.
