In his autobiography, former WWI fighter ace Eddie Rickenbacker, then CEO of
Eastern Airlines, said when he took a test ride in one of the early Comets,
he noticed that the fuselage was visibly expanding and contracting.
Unnerved, he said he'd seen enough.  The decompression crashes began soon
after.
