This shot shows the BUFF's crabbing capability, that was supposed to be hidden.
It enabled the B-52 to use the Interstate highway system even in cross winds in
case the AFBs runways were nuked, and that was a TOP SECRET feature for a very
long time.
I'd wonder whether it was ever used in serious crosswinds, tho.
Doesn't look that stable, when riding umpteen tons of fuel and steel.
PS: Don't the tandem c*kpits look like it was slapped on both cheeks too hard?
