I'm one of those old collectors and am not all that happy with the
current generation of pics coming from most of the studios: huge HD
files, some of them really unreasonably large (which seems unnecessary,
just keeping up with the Joneses' pixel jones), and with generally
"eh" photography (yawn, yawn), often not-so-great choices of shots
(the model moves two centimeters, so the photographer shoots again
*and* includes that one in the published series, what a dumb-ass), and
models who mostly don't do a lot for me. One example of that is WAH.
In the "Don't get me wrong" department, I very much appreciate the
efforts of the folks in the .bodyhair groups who have been posting that
stuff; it's certainly not their fault that the studio in question has
turned out to be sort of lame. I glance at almost all of it and end up
downloading and keeping maybe one set in fifty. I don't know whether
this is a coincidence, but the WAH models I most go for have also
modeled for ATK/AMK: Twyla, Venera, Alena, Simona, and a few others.
Sometimes it's partly due to the people-skills of particular
photographers, keeping the models comfortable, rather than technical
skills. I mean in addition to the particular models themselves, as
always.
I have similar complaints about the current products of many other
studios. There is still some enthusiastic posting going on in various
groups (for instance, .afos*), thanks to a few dedicated people, and
it's ungrateful of me to be looking gift whores in the mouth (rimshot),
but I guess I'm enough of a geezer that I just shrug at the vast
majority of what I'm seeing these days. Present company excepted,
of course. :-> That's one reason I like this group: lots of
retrospective opportunities here, and no insistence on the latest,
supposedly greatest, biggest, shiniest, etc. Same with .models.repost,
for what it is at the moment. There's nothing wrong with nostalgia,
IMO. Or being away from the stressfully active mainstream.
For various reasons that I won't go into I can't be a poster myself,
except in a negligible kind of way; I'm just a consumer/leech. And my
collection isn't so hot anyway. But if you want to pursue this and try
to attract other folks with similar interests, you might consider
rejuvenating something like a.b.erotica.vintage (without the
".pictures" in the name) and/or, strictly for magazine scans,
a.b.vintage.magazines (also without ".pictures"). Those two seem
to have no charter published (looking in the canonical place,
<ftp://ftp.isc.org/pub/usenet/control/alt/> and finding nothing for
those). The charter for a.b.p.e.vintage, with ".pictures", says
"For posting of vintage erotica (pre-1980's)", so that's not much good
for our purposes. I'm thinking that if we define *our* kind of
vintage, neo-vintage so to speak, as 20th century, that's more or less
what we want. Well, not exactly; I'd be tempted to say before 2010 or
maybe 2005.
That's just an off-the-cuff suggestion, possibly also off the wall, and
there are some obvious things wrong with it (like how to publicize the
group and attract like-minded people and get it snowballing), but I
don't know what else to say. Going through the motions of creating a
new binaries group at this very late date would be silly and futile.
Then there's always the option of squatting in some disused binaries
group whose name has nothing to do with the subject matter of the new
posts. But I assume that's too obscure if you want to attract some
participants. It's not as though it were kitty-porn, after all.

Yes, I agree. The production standards tended to suck. But there are
a few of those models I'm still half in love with after all these
years. :-0

In a while, after I've got it all sorted out, I'll post a sampler of
the ones that I have seen and have kept shots of, just for shits &
grins, or for nostalgia's sake. I might as well include the longhairs,
so I'll put the collection of example pics in a.b.models.repost, not
here. It's nowhere near comprehensive or anything like that; merely
what I've happened to grab over the years. Very subjective and
fragmentary. And I don't even have complete sets of anything, so don't
get yer hopes up. :-( It's all just a teaser. Looking at my
preliminary list, I'll be omitting three models: Becky/Erin you already
know about; Agnes (file names agnam & agnbm) was posted by Grouse in
January 2013; and the very brief set of the Latina Brenda (breah)
