This recent change that ATK made to its web servers was bugging me a
little bit, until I figured out an easy way around it ... it's obvious
once you know what's going on.
ATK recently made it apparently impossible to approach a model page or
thumbnails page cold, without going through the main page and drilling
down through the links. For instance, here are some standard URL
templates to save and use when looking up a model, or all models whose
names begin with a certain letter ... these have been valid for many
years:
<https://atkarchives.com/tour/model/ali042>
<https://atkarchives.com/tour/models/a>
<https://atkhairy.com/tour/model/ali042>
<https://atkhairy.com/tour/models/a>
And so on; you substitute whatever you want for the six-character model
ID or the letter to start with, and you can use a different domain name
as appropriate (or try all of 'em). The domains, in addition to those
two, include amkingdom.com (galleria), atkpetites.com, and
atkpremium.com.
The new behavior is to send you to a main page and make you start over,
which is annoying.
The easy workaround is simply to replace that main-page URL in the
browser's URL bar with the URL that you were trying for, once again
(select all, paste, return), or else just close that tab, make a new
tab, paste again, and return. The reason that works is that all the
stupid server wanted to do was to set some cookies in your browser with
a session ID and an indication that you have been to the main page.
Then it will let you see whatever model pages and mug shots you want.
So enable cookies before starting any of this stuff, and delete 'em all
later.
Goddamned corporate marketeers, always screwing things up. :-P
FYI, FWIW, HTH, etc.
