I use Giga's supplied Mimo Usenet browser. It is good for searches way
back. While it is much faster at retrieval of content vs. Forte Agent,
it does miss many pieces and sometimes comes up incomplete with
insufficient pars. I do also have Agent's news, but a the lower
monthly per 20 gigabyte tier. So if Giganews and/or Mimo don't
deliver, I can export a NiZuBfrom Mimo, and then use Agent to pull in
the item(s) from Giganews with failover as secondary service to
Forte's news server. That usually does the trick for me. And Forte
usage reamains manageable, but for me recently, I did bump up the
Forte plan as I find a lot of interesting stuff that is older...
That all being said, Mimo is buggy and primitive (lacks features) and
some of the interface is klutzy crap. So I usually use Agent. Mimo is
great for the big stuff >>1GB or for Giganews server (only) searches
and retrievals. Mimo does not search other providers. It also returns
a max of 3000 entries, but you can trim out obvious crap using teh
minus sign ahead of the text to be filteered out, and/or limit/sort by
article age/sizes
