Last year I upgraded my system from XP to 8.1.
As a result my old newsreader just would not function. (Ozum)
About that same time, Agent came out with their version 8.
Now I am no expert on this subject but Agent is clearly adjusting the
number of connections it is using while downloading a multipart file.
I can see that sometimes it will be using only 15 or 16 connections
and sometimes up to 23 or 24 depending on the time of day.
Since I started using it, Agent has not once failed to download every
file available, completely and without errors.
If the files are there, Agent gets them all.
I am also not using Astaweb and I have to say that during the 20 plus
years I have been using newsgroups, Atraweb is the most complained
about service of all. Sure, all servers have problems from time to
time but Astraweb seems to have the most frequent problems.
Not sayin' that everyone should run out and buy Agent ...
or switch to EasyNews.
Just passing on my personal experiences here.
