I'm not going to debate the merits of one approach over the other. It boils
down to what you have been using and the amount of effort you want to apply to
change.
I started my Excel spread-sheet back in my VHS days and then just tweeked it
until it did what I wanted. And so it grew to 5500 lines!
The one thing that I WOULD like to add is clicking on a title and bring up the
IMDB web-site via a passed argument. But, I don't have the skills to do it.
The other issue I have deals with privacy of meta-data searches. When a catalog
program goes out to search, it leaves your IP all over the place. If the MPAA
sets up a honey trap, then you're at their legal mercy! (I taught internet
security for a major college until a few years ago)
