 I've only done a few myself. All these "VHSRip" postings I've made were
 ripped by someone else. I usually just tweak them a bit.
 
 However, when necessary, I rip from a standard VHS player to a capture
 card on my PC. Avidemux does a fine job of cleaning up the image.
