You gents were right a month ago when I was first attacking Von Stroheim's
"Greed": The four-hour 1999 restored version is FAR superior to the
original 2:15 released version, which I finally bought at an outlet that
sells obscure films (https://store.earthstation1.com).
When I discovered that the restored version was lengthened with 100
minutes of still photos, I imagined the boredom of watching long minutes
of a static image. Turns out there are many of those stills, changing
quickly to carry the story line. And the restoration of the rest of the
film is excellent. I ultimately found a copy of it on a Russian BitTorrent
site that's a good deal sharper than the one you uploaded, Straight Man,
so I'll post it here, as well as the original release version.
