I'm sure I saw Peter Cushing in a horror movie where he;s in a room
fighting with some creature, a mummy or Frankenstein's monster etc
and he stretches his arm out on a mantelpiece and the monster crushes
his hand. He kills the monster but his hand is injured.
I seem to recollect that others got killed because they did something
l( maybe desecrated a mummys tomb) but because he didnt do such a bad
thing he escaped with a broken hand instead of being killed.

Does this sound familiar at all?

I'm sure I remember Peter Cushing cradling his injured hand by the end
of the film.

Could be one of the Amicus portmanteau films.
