Not sure if I understnd what the discussion about, but:
MPC is part of kl-codec.
When installed the full version of it, it plays ALL movies I came across,
Save for the fakes, that require you to go somewhere and "download the codec".
It has always been my default player, even though I also have others, such as
VLC (can play 3D), Pot player (also 3D), GOM player and others, you probably never
heard about.
Just my 2cents.
