Depending on a number of factors it is risky and sometimes impossible
to upload single files much largerthan 200 MB.
The easiest way is to create a RAR and PAR set. RAR takes a file and
then breaks it into smaller sizes which can be downloaded and then
reassembled. Here is how it works:
VIDEO.AVI = 500 MB.
When you upload the VIDEO.AVI if just ONE part of a segment is lost by
the Typhoon Server, (that is the server that handles NNTP traffic),
then the entire post is useless.
Here is what RAR does.
Before RAR:
VIDEO.AVI - 500 MB.
After RAR:
VIDEO.AVI.PART1.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART2.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART3.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART4.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART5.RAR = 100 MB
So you don't upload 1 x 500 MB file but instead you upload 5 x 100 MB
files. For a variety of reasons I won't go into the odds are better
that 5 x 100 MB will successfuly upload than 1 X 500 MB.
HOWEVER... it is still quite possible that there will be failures so
there are two ways we can fix that.
VIDEO.AVI.PART1.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART2.RAR = 99 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART3.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART4.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART5.RAR = 100 MB
Simply re-upload the second part. If that works then the post is
complete with you have to upload the entire video again. However if
you're having issues the odds are that you might find all 5 files have
one or two part failures which means you're stuck having to upload
everything again.
Thus the better solution where you also create and upload PAR files,
(parity files).
Parity files make it possible to rebuild any part of any file in a
group up to same size as the parity set. Simply put if you have a
10MB Parity file the download (not you as this is an after upload fix)
then the downloader can fix up to 10MB worth of failed upload parts.
So here is how you do it.
1. RAR. Winrar is a shareware so if you don't want to purchase it
you can get 7Zip for free. 7Zip can archive (break files into a
smaller sizes) and it can extract Rar files, (although it cannot
archive RAR files as that is proprietory), just as Winrar and it is
free for life and just as good, (some suggest better).
It is very easy to do. Run 7Zip/Winrar and select the video file and
then the size you want to archive it into, (ie: 100 MB.

2. Par. Okay so now you have all these files rather than one big
video file. We now need to create parity files so if there are any
problems with the upload the files can be fixed.
This is also very easy to do. Run QuickPar and select all of the
archived files, (DO NOT INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL VIDEO FILE), and click on
"Create". QuickPar will now create a parity set, (you can select the
partity level usually between 10-15%). You now have your Parity set.

3. Upload.
Original:
VIDEO.AVI = 500MB
Now
VIDEO.AVI.PART1.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART2.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART3.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART4.RAR = 100 MB
VIDEO.AVI.PART5.RAR = 100 MB

a number of parity of files, (the number of files depends upon how big
the post is).
Now Newsbin is FANASTIC for downloading, (I use it for all major
downloads), but it is 3rd rate for posting.
A really good and free posting program that is used all the time is
Powerpost 2000. It is very stable and allows you to repost parts.
Example:
VIDEO.AVI.PART3.RAR = 100 MB
actual upload
VIDEO.AVI.PART3.RAR = 99.999 MB missing part 44.
Using PowerPost you can go to your upload list and right click on file
3 and reselect part 44 and re-upload that part which will fix the
upload.

A trick I use it to keep the upload in a separate directory so all of
the files are in isolated. Once you have archived (RAR) the video
file and created the parity set move the original video file back to
its original directory so you only deal with the upload.
I know this seems like a lot but once you've done it two or three
times it becomes second nature.
