 Update:
 
 Microsoft never called me this morning as we had an appointment to do
 so. I'm not surprised.
 
 I called them this afternoon... amazingly, I got right through. I
 spent almost 2 hours on the phone with them, but all to no avail. I am
 still DOA.
 
 My new hard drive will be here, hopefully, by the end of the week and
 then the "fun" starts. At least the old drives are not fubared, so I
 will be able to see all the programs I had installed.
 
 I'm sure it will be at least two to three weeks before I am back to at
 least partial strength.
