That looks perfect kj. The sublect line wasn't right but that is an
easy fix.
Mine reads:
ABMEA...A TTP Post [$1/$2] "$F" yEnc
The 'ABMEA...A TTP Post' is simply text, you can use whatever you want
there.
[$1/$2] is a file couner variable, it puts [1/xx], [2/xx] ect in the
subject line.
The "$F" variable puts the file name in the subject line. Using "$F"
means you never need to add the files name into your subject line.
The yEnc is also simply text. It is a throwback to older times when
yEnc encoding was new, so it let downloaders know. Some readers
couldn't handle yEnc so it was somewhat of a warning.
Really not needed any more, just 'tradition' :)
So, using [$1/$2] and "$F" you can inform the downloader of the number
of splits and pars to expect and the name of the original file.
Your text is yours to make as you desire.
Using a subject line like this means you never really need to change
it with each post so today's 'mistake' won't happen :)
For your questions:
1-That number is up to you, I have no real rule but if a video is
20+MB I will usually split it up. I always make par files in case
something goes wrong wether I split the file or not.
2-QuickPar will verify completeness no matter what method is used to
split a file. It will join files that are split with QuickPar and
MultiPar but it will not join rar files. Rar files are their own
animal and can only be joined using rar (winrar) or 7-zip.
Agent 8, with megajoin enabled, will also combine (extract really) rar
files as well.
I use rar out of tradition, rar has been the primary method for
splitting files in ABMEA for as long as I can remember. That doesn't
make it right or wrong, just the 'norm' for the group.
Hope that helps!
EG.
