As soon as I read "partition" another option occurred to me.  
  
It would be far simpler (and cheaper) to install a small  
partition for Linux, perhaps Ubuntu. The OS is much like  
Windows and I suspect much like your Mac. Very easy to master.  
  
Apparently all the necessities (RAR, PAR2, & posting) are  
built in. You can use them as-is with simple command lines or  
install various GUI front ends if you like.  
  
Something to consider if Unison 2.2 becomes too much of a  
headache.  
  
Anyway, it's nice to have options.
