I finally watched this one, while uploading it for another venue in a prev-
ious incarnation, and I must say it's one of those that I will now kick my-
self for not viewing sooner! It was funny, touching, emotional and thought-
provoking throughout.
I think one of the reasons for my hesitation was that it featured Rosie
O'Donnell in the cast (not one of my most favorite people in the whole wide
world), but her role, while quite important to the plot, was a relatively
small one, and I actually ended up enjoying her character.
Joseph Cross turned in an amazing performance as the little boy who's
recently lost his grandpa and now has questions about God. And, I must also
make mention of Timothy Reifsnyder, who plays the part of Joshua's best
friend, Dave O'Hara. He has such a unique little face, and such cute ways of
Unfortuneately, this was his only role at that age (others not coming until
three years later, in 2001...).
I highly recommend the film, and I can say with near-certainty that you won't
be disappointed if you download it :)
I am posting this Echo Bridge disc as well as a Miramax one.
haven't watched the other one to know what exactly (if anything) might be
missing...
And one caveat: in VLC, I couldn't get the English VobSubs to appear, but
when I played the disc in my stand-alone Philips DVD player, they showed just
fine.
