Also known as "Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer: A Musical Adaptation"
A mischievous orphan with a knack for tall tales, Tom Sawyer lives with his
exasperated aunt Polly, loving cousin Mary, and spiteful other cousin Sidney,
in the riverfront town of Hannibal, Missouri. Along with his rag-tag best
friend, Huckleberry Finn, and his fetching sweetheart, Becky Thatcher, Tom's
life is a series of clever and irrepressible adventures.
But when he and Huck witness a murder at midnight in the graveyard, Tom must
decide if he will risk his life to exonerate the wrongly-accused town bum,
Muff Potter...
A musical adaptation of Mark Twain's timeless classic, this production remains
fairly faithful to the written version.

According to my records, this is the second DVD that I bought on eBay, on
2009-09-25 (I was thinking it was the first, but the records say that honor
goes to "Durango Kids," which I bought for a whole penny (yes, One Cent!) on
2005-09-17. At any rate, it's safe to say that this was *one of* the first
DVD's that I ever bought...
While prepping the DVD for posting, I discovered that I had never scanned the
cover, something that astonishes me, given my penchant and fetish for DVD
covers!
And after scanning it, I found an error that some might term 'Creative
License,' but which I would call a glaring error: On the front we see Tom
Sawyer, with Huckleberry Finn on his right, and Becky Thatcher on his left,
all three holding paintbrushes dripping with whitewash. What's wrong with
this picture, you ask? Well, first, Huck was not in this segment at all,
it being Saturday and he being off doing something else, and secondly, Tom had
not even met Becky Thatcher yet, evidenced by the fact that Joe Jefferson (the
first of Tom's 'victims' suckered into whitewashing the fence for him) is
heard telling Tom about the new Thatcher family that just moved into the
neighborhood. And the menu on the DVD shows Becky sitting on the pier with
Tom and Huck, also a scene that never was...)
I'd also like to note that, to the best of my recollection, this is the film I
was searching for one day when my friend Google led me to an obscure, little-
ensuing years would hold in store for me...
Seems ironic --and yet fitting-- that this would be one of the last movies
that I post as I bring the 'Zaphod' persona to a final end :)
