The site I use most for finding NZBs (NZBClub) lets me know ahead of
time which are the rar-in-rar phone spam scams. I know this because
I'm the eternal optimist and even knowing I still try at times :P
Agent will go ahead and download regardless of content, but Newsbin
Pro does something similar to what you say Newsleecher does (I have no
experience with that particular program, I already had the other 2,
and couldn't figure it so never tried again). However, Newsbin doesn't
even download the first RAR, it checks it and if it's got a passworded
rar in the content, it "fails" the download.
As to why people post these things, why does anyone spam or scam? The
main reason is because they can. In 20+ years of file sharing I've
never figured out the mindset behind spam/scam, although the term
chronovore comes to mind - a certain type of personality grooves on
eating others' time. Maybe it's because they have nothing themselves
to contribute, or maybe they're just pathetic losers, no idea :P

Once upon a planet, someone posted a handy little guide for preparing
posts for our lil corner of the usenetiverse, but it must have been on
the hard drive that recently died on me since I can't find it
anywhere, nor do I remember who wrote it or where I got it.
So let me ask, what type of movie file is it you wish to share? DVD or
encode? I ask since A) if just one, no point in going into great
detail over the other, and B) to stall while I write it out.
On the other hand, if one of you regulars know what guide I'm talking
about and happen to have it handy, and wish to share it, that'd be
high up there on the cool-o-meter.
Apps involved:
In the meantime, you'd do weil to get some sort of auto poster, and
there's probably a gazillion out there, so if you'd like a really
simple one, I can post the one I use for you. No installation, just
find a place to put it, extract it, enter your info and off ya go. If
you do want it, there are loads of tutorials on how to use it.
Another good app to have for PAR2 file creation is quickpar. It hasn't
been developed in years but the last working version is still most
excellent. There's been PAR3 in the meantime but it's never shown
itself to be useful, and no standards for implementation. I've never
downloaded PAR3 files that worked.
News reader you got (newsleecher) so we're ok on that score.
If DVD, then a good decrypter to copy it to your hard drive, the old
DVDdecrypter hasn't been developed in ages, and fails with many newer
releases but it's still very useful and free. Sometimes acts funny in
Windows 7 and no idea how it works in 8.
Another option is DVDFab - it's a paid program but has a free trial,
and its internal decrypter remains free to use even after the trial
expires.
I think I better stop for now, and see if this makes any sense, before
continuing.
