You're quite welcome, and I agree regarding the storage of MKVs over
DVDs. Although I will keep many of the DVDs around as I said above in
the event I learn some new trick.
On the laptops (17") I see no difference at all between the DVDs and
the MKVs I make from them. And the BR stuff looks worse because the
resolution of the laptops' displays means that it has to be reduced in
size, resulting in some really awful pixellation. That's one reason I
prefer a sample of a VOB or the MKV as a preview over the use of
images as they do on the torrent sites or on TWB, because I can't
really tell from a screencap what the end result will look like on my
computers. Of course, when it's an untouched DVD, it doesn't matter
much, since I'll go for it anyway :) and some do good work so I don't
mind the images instead of a preview. But the general rule for me from
strange sources is "no preview and no info = no download".
