You're a bigger man/woman than I am, Shazam! I would have gone straight
to the, "people like you who carp and criticize about posts because you
don't like the file format or some other thing are what killed most of
the other sharing groups out there" speech. :( There used to be very
active groups for sharing soundtracks and theatre music -until a
self-proclaimed ".mp3 policeman" started hounding everyone away. To
include that it was .m4a in the file name/description only invited his
wrath quicker and louder. When I would block him, he'd change his name
and start again. I literally had to block him over two dozen times.
Most of the other regulars simply left, or became lurkers. You're lucky
to see one or two new posts there a month now...
There aren't that many people out there sharing. To splinter ourselves
into smaller and smaller groups by file formats isn't going to make
anything better -It's just going to make less and less material
available, and make what is there harder to find. If you're grown up
enough to use a computer to download a file, then you're capable of
converting that file to another format, if needed. If you can't do
that, then don't download it! I know some file formats are very hard
from some systems to deal with, but a polite request for someone who
can to re-up the file in a different format is usually sufficient.

PS -I know iTunes has its haters out there, but it is a whiz at
converting file formats quickly and accurately. It's free, too! You
could use it simply for conversions...
