I stumbled across this by accident. I was starting to download my
first audible book and Internet Download Manager popped up wanting to
save it as an .mp4 file - normally a video format. I figured why not
and let it do it's thing. It downloaded many times faster than real
time. What I ended up with there was a fairly large video file with
only the audio track. I ran that through FormatFactory saving it as a
mp3 file with the settings I wanted. Usually 56 kBits/second, 44,100
Hz and mono. Ended up with a perfectly good audiobook in a reasonable
size. Not a whole lot of messing around. Deleted the original mp4
file and good to go.
