abook.ws is a fine audiobook site and it is run as a club by the author Buck Rider.
It uses Usenet as a convenient place to post audiobooks for members to download.
Of course there is no special protection on the abook.ws group and all posts in there can be
downloaded by anyone with the usual newsgroup software.
HOWEVER most of the posts are named in a codified way and some of the posts are password
protected. These passwords are readily available to members of the abook.ws club. So you
have to join.....
You need to be recommended or be of a persuasive nature to be allowed to join. It is quite
free, but donations are encouraged. As I said, it is a fine club, quite safe and members
offer any amount of help and advice, again, quite free of any charge.
The erm, person (I'm in a forgiving mood today) who posts books in here with the abook.ws
prefix just shouldn't do it, especially as they are apparently password protected and
unnamed in any ordinary way.
Just clearing up what might have become an unclear situation. :)
lanky
I'd give you a piece of my mind, but I'm on the last one
