When Watership Down was first out (and I was reading it):  On May 5th (note,
5th), my
neighbor's cat had a litter.  Four of the kittens were black and white.  The
fifth kitten to be born was a stripped calico.  Beautiful kitten.  That
kitten adopted me...literally!  The other kittens would play amongst
themselves.  She would come over and nap on my lap.  At week five of life,
she came to live with me.  Well, guess what I named her.  Fiver.

A couple of years later they made the movie.  My vet called me: "I always
wondered where you got Fiver's name.  Now I know."  Several other people got
the connection thanks to the movie.

Therefore, I'm Fiver's Mom...or Mum...and, it has just stuck.

Fiver's Mom
