NYC's beloved Mateo & Matos (Large, King Street)
always bring the soulful Latin flavoured goods, and
this blistering three-tracker on West End is
another must-grab. Three killer tracks here,
anchored by the awesome "A New World", a driving,
hypnotic techy jam with some hot key stabs, thick
percussion and a throbbing bassline. Definitely up
there with Kerri Chandler's recent funk. Flip for
the MAW-like "Chango" and it's ethnic chants and
afro-flavoured percussion while "The Calling" is a
throwback jazzy-house jam that recalls NYC labels
like Henry Street and Kult.

BeatForge was first established back in the early 90s.

releasing crew around, but after several splits, the group was
