As long as the file name of the *srt file is the same name as the *avi
file, and is placed in the same folder, most media players will play them
automatically along with the movie.  I used VLC media player and it worked
fine.

Also, if you burn both files to a DVD, many stand alone DVD players which
play DIVX files will also play the sub file automatically.

I'm sure there are ways to burn them permanently into the file -- but I'm
not sure how.
