Who I am is plain to see. I am someone who has responded to the predicament
of those friends of ours who cannot have a share of the posts here. I am
someone who is not telling them it is totally their fault. I am someone who
is following jimmy's lead in telling this group how to get the new access
and agreeing to a contact person giving that infomation to people who are
unable to find it using his own clues. jimmy kept the locks on but not
people locked out. His clues were posted in this group, with and without the
old set of passwords and files, both of which had been well and truly
"compromised". Initially the clues did not depend on people possibly risking
their safety either posting here or corresponding via hushmail. That became
part of the later history, so that now there are people posting requests for
information to the group and including their hushmail addresses. My dear, we
have failed our friends if we create a situation of desperation for them
which increase the likelihood that they will act to put themselves at risk.
I have repeated that the availability of access is no threat to the group,
the posters or the downloaders. Access will always be compromised, because
even the most private groups have to have an access which is known by some
number of people if the group is to fulfill its purpose. The new access here
is known by an unknown number of unknown people. They are totally invisible
to posters, and the number of these invisibles increases continually. I was
invisible until I posted. And if I were an LEA I would either have remained
invisible or I would have been one of the posters "contributing" in one way
or another. Obviously I am not LEA! Could the same be said about you, dear
one! I am also not a troublemaker, because I have not exposed anything about
the nature of this group here or anywhere else. It is not possible to fall
over the nature of this group while randomly browsing usenet. I would have
to consciously and intentionally unlock this group and looked inside to find
out its nature. What action could I take against the group which would not
make me complicit? No, I am not a troublemaker.
The old passwords are easily stumbled upon and used on the spot. The new
locks require downloading files and applications. Anyone can do it, and
anyone does! But not without responsibility for the access they obtain.
There is no actual secrecy. There is no actual need for secrecy. jimmy
didn't make access secret. He just hid it, but where it could be found. The
means of access could be found without risk. Using those means involves
risk. My suggestion, my dear, is to do the same again.
Again I have to say to everyone that you individually, at your end, have to
ensure your safety. The locks don't do that. You have to act intelligently,
research the risks and the remedies. Do not correspond directly to this
group or to email addresses through your own computer if you are not totally
confident you cannot be identified.
