If you just read through your ownb messages from the point of view of a
person who does NOT have the keys, then it seems clear that you are the
person calling the shots.
You are telling people what to do and what not to do.
You are saying that YOU hold the keys and that people have to grovel to
you and beg for them in an e-mail.
Several people on usenet have been used by LEA to gather information on
others , have BETRAYED them, and it was all from offering "something"
for the price of sending them an e-mail.
It is well-known that Hushmail is a shill for the LEA of the US. They
do anything and everything they can to help US law enforcement.
All they need to do is say, "We need so-and-so username's location."
and Hushmail give it up without a warrant or any argument.
As I said, if posters wanted to be safe and keep others safe, they
could use as keyfiles any number of popular web sites' graphics files.
Just pick a page that rarely changes and download their gif and jpgs to
use as your keyfiles.
Name the site in an e-mail that you post in another group. Post the
URL even. Hell, some site would welcome the traffic!
But telling folks they now have to ask for keyfiles in e-mail and that
there will be nothing posted in a group without those keyfiles sounds a
lot like you are running the group now.
You don't need to apologize to me. You're not going to get an e-mail from me.
Real trustworthiness is proven first by SHOWING trust.
Now, Doc and the rest who want to trash talk my concerns will do so yet again.
Never once will they acknowledge that my obvious motive is, in fact,
the safety of everyone involved.
I am asking that steps be taken to minimize risk, not just to posters,
who could easily choose not to post at all (and I know, they often do),
but also to the lurkers who will probably give up their privacy and
protections by the hundreds by sending e-amils from their personal
accounts directly to whomever promises them the fix they are looking to
get.
Enough said by me about this.
