Hmmm... if we are trying to avoid people who activly tries to follow us then we
are in theory screwed no matter what we do. If it were just bots who picks up
names written in the clear then it would be one thing, but people activly trying
to follow us then nothing would be 100% secure. Any guess who doesnt leave the
poster alone in the new group because nobody can crack it would also be solved
by the people the poster is trying to avoid.
The most secure (but still far from 100%) method I can think of would be to post
the adresse on a different platform than usenet. For instance could the adress
to the new group be posted as a password protected rar archive containing a
textfile with just the line "a.b.something". This could be posted on a
webposting site where it would be taken offline after x-days or when the poster
wants. On a different webpublishing site the poster would publish a text file
contaning just one word, the password. There would be no connection between the
ones so no chance for people to stumble upon them by chance. And then the poster
would publish the adress to the two files in this group. And after a limited
time the two files with the pw and adress goes offline and the link between old
and new group ceases to exist. A variant of this would be having .jpg files
containing the password and adress instead of textfiles but keep the procedure
of seperating them.
The problem with this is that if the person(s) the poster is trying to avoide is
activly mointoring the site then they will discover the links before they time
out as well. So it's a chance game. Keep the window of oppertunity too large and
you not only allow all access to all the ones you want but also the ones you
dont want. Keep the window of oppertunity too small and you end up keeping out
the ones you dont want but also those you do want. Never 100% safe but it should
reduce the risk.
