Open posting to newsgroups is not safe precisely because of x-trace.
There are ways, used by regular posters, of doing things like
"tunnelling" and going through anonymous proxies which mask this so any
x-trace does not reveal a correct user ID/IP address. I know how to do
this for text posts like this but have not found any free tool that
allows me to post binary files which is why I am afraid that I am a
lurker rather than poster at the moment
