One amazing collection to turn your Nvidia Shield-TV into a retro gaming
timewarp! This pack includes arcade games and major systems from the late 1970's
to the early 2000's. This second release has major improvements in scope of the
collection and in terms of overall asthetic. Each system was given a fleshing
out, expanding most systems from 50 to 100 of the best games.
(excluding lynx with a limited game release, I tried to minimize repetition).
MAME has been given a lot of love by splitting out genres and decades into menu
wheels, since Hyperspin Android does not support sublists at this time.
The system preview videos feel more like trailers for the featured games with
the game title displayed at the end. I extended the system videos to 5 minutes
so when they are on in the background they are not as repetative.
Creating this pack was a labor of love to send out to the gaming community.
These games deserve to be enjoyed by everyone, and to be kept relevant and
accessible for future generations. Emulation is an amazing way to do so.
I scoured the web for people referencing their favorite games in each system,
or relied on top lists and critic rankings. It was a tiring process to filter
out all of the working titles and the correct files for each emulator, but once
complete it was spectacular to see all the systems dancing together perfectly.
I hope this can be enjoyed, as is, without the hassle I had to sludge through.
All bios files are present within the rom folders. Configuring Retroach to look
for system files in the content directory solves bios related setup on these xml
lists. The other stand-alone emulators do not require a bios file to function.
Inside of the archive is a hyperspin folder which contains all the settings,
media and rom files to launch Hyperspin on Android Shield-TV.

Install Notes

Extract these files to the root of a flash drive, or to the root directory of
the internal storage of your shield device. You should see a Hyperspin folder
inside the "root" or "base" of the drive structure. Thats it for extraction!
All required APK's are inside Emulator folder within.
If you want to get updates install from play store instead.
Install using the supplied APK in emulators folder:

Configure RetroArch:
Enable advanced options under Settings->User Interface->Show Advanced Settings
Enable bios in rom folder at Settings->Saving->System Files are in Content Dir
Setting up a button to exit directly out of retroarch makes it more useable.
I would recommend configuring your hotkeys in Retroarch in a similar fashion:
Enable Hotkeys : Right Joy Click
Menu : Left Joy Click
Exit : Back Button
Load State : L Bumper
Save State : R Bumper
The other hotkeys are very useful but not completely required:
Rewind : L Trigger
Fast Forward : R Trigger
Volume + : Dpad up
Volume - : Dpad down
Savestate + : Dpad right
Savestate - : Dpad left
Configure controllers in all previously mentioned emulators! Retroarch is the
easiest to set up controllers, some require more than one layout such as the
N64 for some of the FPS games which had strange control schemes.
For specific configuration of the Dolphin emulator I would suggest setting the
forced clock speed to 65% under general and turn on all the checkboxes. Under
graphics options enable vulkan and at the bottom of the page under hacks turn
everything on except immediate xfb. With these settings I am able to play soul
calibur at full speed. Only other game that needs adjustments from this is
Simpsons Hit'n Run which needs slightly lower clock rate to run at a playable
speed.

Secondary Notes

In situations where you want to add content, you need to manually make the
addition of all relevant files into their folders:
-XML entry in the database folder which will be assigning the filename.
-Videos go in video folder with corresponding filename.mp4.
-Themes folder contains filename.zip theme file.
-Wheel art in the Image\wheel folder with corresponding filename.png (logo).
-Artwork3 and Artwork4 which are the boxart and cartridge art, also png.
Pay close attention to capitalization, punctuation and spelling in the filenames.
Any difference from the referenced filename in your XML and it will not work.
In order to add more games into the Android wheel you will need an app that
gives you the com line to launches that specific Android app directly.
Quickshortcutmaker is the app I used to acheive this, and once you know the com
line you simply use that as the filename like you would any rom file. Look at
the xml for Android to see an example of the com line you need, and search QSM
for the app you want to add to hyperspin.
Other devices running android may be compatible, in those cases you will be able
to find hyperspin on the app store and install it. If it does not show up, you
are likely not using a compatible device. Try using the APK included as well.
This pack is meant for Hyperspin Android but the ROM files can used in rom
browsers that scan folders such as DIG or Arc browser. Those solutions would
import their own files for the most part and take up more space for their media.
