You can do a clean install but you first have to upgrade in order to
get the activation code. Done that on one machine so far with no
issues other than reinstalling software, as usual.
Second machine was upgraded. Once I confirm no old software issues, it
too will get a clean install.
Only things I have found so far to be annoying...
1. Mouse scroll wheel only works in certain windows (browser,
explorer, etc) but not in Apps or menu ... yet.
2. Details pane in Explorer cannot yet be moved from the side to the
bottom. Cannot have Details and Preview panes open at same time. These
were both features of Win 8.
Thus far no issues running old software or any drivers.
