Synopsis:
Georgina Spelvin's husband dies while having sex with her. No longer having the financial independence to continue her affluent lifestyle, Spelvin tries to set up her daughters, currently going to the Ballantines School for Girls, to marry into several rich families to secure her prosperous lifestyle.
Video/Audio:
Desires Within Young Girls is presented in the 1.33:1, full screen, aspect ratio. There is nothing in the movie to suggest that this is not the original aspect for the film except for its original release date. As far as this print goes, there are frequent artifacts throughout the film, which can be expected for a film of this age. The color, especially in some scenes, seems slightly washed out. For its age, this is a great print of the film though. Desires Within Young Girls was filmed originally on film, not on video.
The available audio track for the film is a 2.0 English Mono track. Although the sound is very flat, which is the case with mono tracks, it is a very decent sound track. The dialog is easy to hear and the music doesn't ever drown it out. There are problems with the track with a popping sound on very high octaves. There are no other language tracks and no subtitle options available.
Cut Warning:
Unfortunately, as many of the classics seem to be now, Desires Within Young Girls has been cut. The second scene featuring Annette Haven and John Seeman has been cut from the film. Interestingly enough, a previously cut scene from the VHS release featuring Clair Dia and John Leslie has been edited back in. I believe this scene was edited out due to underage innuendo, so it is unlikely that it will be reconstructed back into the film. The scene was carefully edited out so that you don't notice that it is missing unless you have seen the film previously with the intact scene or have a scene list in front of you.
Chapters/Time Code:
Desires Within Young Girls has six chapters available from the main menu, which brings you to the beginning to most of the sex scenes. Beyond that simple navigation through the disc is near impossible. The film split onto two title tracks so it is split in the middle and you can't rewind past that point. There is no time code for the film either, so you can't use time searching to find a scene.
Special Features:
As far as the extras go, Desires Within Young Girls is about as bare as they come. The Photo Gallery contains 17 photos on a one minute thirty-second track. Most of the photos available, which are all stills from the film, are of very low quality. Available previews on the disc are for Pristine 1 & 2 and Totally Real. Web Site is an advert for their forthcoming site on the Internet. Phone Sex is an advert for a 900 number.
Review:
Desires Within Young Girls is a classic from the Golden Age of adult movies and it shows. This is one of the best adult films that I have run across so far. To begin with, the film has an in depth story that obviously came from a very well done script. Also for a change, the sex scenes fit the script, instead of the script trying to fit together the sex scenes. In addition to the extremely skillfully prepared adult film you also end up getting a well-done comedy along with it.
As far as the sex scenes go, the scenes themselves are much shorter than those that you will find in a current adult film. However, the scenes have far more of a lead in to them and are far more erotic than almost anything you will find being produced today. If you are into extreme sex or nasty sex, you won't find it here as the scene presented here are rather tame than some of the ones being produced today making this not a movie for you. Two scenes that I found to be exceptional standouts are the threeway with Abigail Clayton, Stacy Evans and Jon Martin and the scene with Clair Dia and John Leslie. On the opposite site, the scene with Georgina Spelvin and John Leslie was way over the top on acting making this scene unintentionally funny.
The sets and locations for the film are great. Nothing in them looks out of place. No hastily assembled sets that look fake, every set and location used in the film fits its scene perfectly. The same kind of attention went into the props and costuming. The music used in the film is not your typical adult film music. It was a nice change. This is basically an outstanding film all around. If only the kind of attention that went into this film went into the adult films of today.
