The version I have is a Caballero DVD that was uploaded by takimoto in May of 2003. The rental outfits say this release was "added to the catalog" in 2000.
DVD authoring
There's a menu (Play Movie, Jump to Scene, Photo Shoot, Other DVD's, Web Page, ???) and it appears to be functional - clicking on the menu boxes takes you to the right places and Main Menu returns. Audio seems normal, stays in sync. Using the built-in Windows DVD player (WMP). Scene Select works, next/previous chapter doesn't.
But when you try to extract the movie (to make an AVI or a single MPEG-2, to get rid of all the crap), it falls apart.

As Annette gets up from her desk to take a towel to Mr Jarvis (0:23:47, Frame 42775, VOB2) the gallery displays - 25 pix flash in rapid succession - and when the video resumes we're in the photocopier room. But the audio isn't in sync anymore.
That gallery authoring is really messed up. If you try to just eliminate it (mark-in mark-out step-thru in Womble, for example) you can get rid of it and the result appears to be normal. But the audio sync is now fucked - it's in sync, then it isn't, then it is again.
Stepping thru the gallery frame by frame is bizarre. The pix display, one to a frame, but not in the order they play. Annette walking away pops up (two frames), the photocopier room pops up (two frames). And that's far from the worst of it. Depending on what you use to step thru that gallery, sometimes a chunk of it (not all) repeats. Sometimes you can step back, sometimes you can't, and sometimes if you try it you're transported to another place in the movie entirely.
That's a big problem. You get one set of behaviors in WMP playing the DVD from the DVD drive, another in vlc playing the DVD from the DVD drive, another in vlc playing the VIDEO_TS folder from the hard drive, another stepping thru the VOBs in Womble, and yet another trying to do anything at all with it in VirtualDub.

save out to a single MPEG-2 from Womble
save out to individual VOBs with PCM audio from Womble
dvd2avi (and ac3 audio to wav using ac3tool)
DVD Decrypter with "Detect Mastering Errors" selected
excise gallery in VirtualDub
excise gallery in Womble
And, come to find out from the waterman1969 version, the closing credits screens are also missing from the Caballero DVD version.
