I used a program called usenetwire which can be downloaded from usenetwire.com
i think you have to have a account on tweaknews to use it - the primary
server seems to be hardcoded in but you can add a seconday one for
fills.
they have some kind of backend or database that seems to index those
obscure groups
although its blazingly fast for a search and you dont d/l millions of
headers, its not that good for anything else.
since it doesnt d/l headers of subbed newsgroups you are at their mercy
to update the backend.
you cant read text messages (like this one) from binary groups
it chokes on alot of downloads with the scrambled nzb stuff but it does
d/l the normal stuff
