Handbrake.RIB.Settings.txt
Hi guys. I hope I haven't mislead anyone by calling Handbrake a ripping tool. It
is of course a converter - not a ripper. If your source is protected you will
first have to rip it to disc using a suitable protection removal software. Or
like me you could run AnyDVD which will remove ALL protection on the fly (and in
the background)
Down to the Handbrake settings.
1/ Open Handbrake and decide which container you want to work with. I prefer MKV
because it seems to produce smaller files.
2/ Click on filters and change decomb to fast. This slows the encode down a
little but the results are well worth it.
3/ Click on video and tick the avg bitrate button and then type 1200 into the
box. I have two presets saved. One that leaves the rest of these setting alone
and another that ticks the 2-pass and the turbo boxes. The first give me an
acceptable and fast encode and the second the best possible encode for the file
size.
4/Click on audio and then click the codec menu button. Look for and click on
Auto passthru. I like to keep the original sound but it does make for a slighty
larger file.
5/ go to chapters and tick the create chapter markers box.
6/Click the add button (bottom right) and make sure the save video filter
settings box is ticked. Change the max picture size to custom and then type 720
into the LEFT hand box. You can leave the right hand box empty. Handbrake will
automatically calculate the hight and turn on keep aspect ratio.
7/ Give your preset a name and click the add button. Your preset will appear
under user presets at the right of the screen. Now when you want to use your
preset you just click on it.
Any questions - just ask.
RIB.
