Hi Katie
Here's an idea you may want to pursue. Use www.nzbclub.com and search
for "c4tv", channel 4 television in the UK. There's a lot of stuff of
little interest to those wanting documentaries (search through a lot
of chaff to find the wheat), but also some great documentary programs
that don't get reposted here, but are posted in alt.binaries.teevee
(sometimes repeat posted in .boneless.)
There was a good one on the Mona Lisa, a three part series on Colour,
the Spectrum of Science (which was very good), some good mulit-part
programs on notable (and fabulous) backyard gardens of the middle
class in the UK, as well as several on notable estate-type gardens.
The latest series of British Railway Journeys (series 7), a nice one
on Panda Babies, just posted one called 'Puppies Make You Laugh", a
new series on Walking the Himalayas, a new series starting on Romanov
Russia and one on Victorian Baking; and quite a few others on a
variety of subjects.
Will probably take a bit of page flipping to go back a few days, but
it's worth it to keep up on some of the current docs coming in from
the UK.
It's understandable that the posters here don't post every last bit
of documentary programming in this or the brit.doc group, but you can
download the NZB and get the headers yourself very quickly. Worth a
look if you're not into war history.
Carol
