I will get the Globetrekker episodes, but before you go to all of the
trouble of posting the "Petra" episodes, I have an old Natl. Geographic
channel videotape (eh? what's that??) that I got while I was still
sailing, which tells you how old THAT set is. It's one of those
Time-Life series. They would send one tape with two eptsodes of
"Archaeology" each month or so. Half hour each and it was $19.95 plus
extras. The one called "Crossroads Of Antiquity" had a fairly good
piece on Petra. (Did you know that near the end of "Indiana Jones and
the Last Crusade", they shot the scene where they all ride up on horses
through that really narrow rock passage there? At places, that passage
narrows to 6 feet or so. That is the entrance to Petra! For real. The
facade they go into is the first that you see as you enter, but there
are all sorts of them inside. It's a strange place. Very defendable,
though!) I'll download anything you post on it, though. For me, it's
sort of like ancient Egypt. (I got to see a mummy when I was about 10
and that was that.) Petra came to it's "end" after a large earthquake.
At least, that is what they say. And, yes, it was the Nabateans
"hideout", though they didn't really hide. It was a caravan stop when
crossing what is now Jordan, I think. (I've often wondered how
Spielberg and his crew got all of that camera gear and whatnot through
that very narrow entry passage! Oh, yeah, it's Spielberg...)
Generally, it's a Yes to anything you post.
There I go again...
Thanks for everything, Spike!
