An interesting way of backing up that I never really thought about,
mainly because of the initial cost of the EHDD versus the occasional
I was seriously considering 'M-Disc' but was putting that idea off
until the price of the discs seriously comes down, but their claims
about 'proven 1000 years storage' seem to be a bit hard to swallow...
there being No Way that they can claim that as 'proven'.
I wouldn't dare go above a 1TB EHDD, losing 1 drive would mean a
Massive loss of stored data... that's another reason I probably
wouldn't go that route.
Losing a couple of DVD's out of 1000 seems a Lot less painful.
But an interesting idea though. It would be nice to just update stuff
on the individual drives... adding/deleting/updating, taking off the
old... replacing with the new :)
Not something that can be done with burned DVD's. (unless re-writable,
of course which puts costs up even more).
Thanks for the idea, but I just know that I would then back up the
data I have on DVD's and then end up keeping them in case an EHDD
failed.
