File = 504mb consisting of 13 rar's
Each rar = 40mb consisting of 26 chunks
Each chunk = 40mb/26chunks = 1.5mb/chunk
-
File = 504mb consisting of 32761 blocks
Each block = 15388 bytes/block
-
Each chunk = (40,000,000bytes/26chunks) / (15388bytes/block) = 47
blocks/chunk
-
1 error kills 1 chunk, kills 47 blocks, kills 1.5mb
-
Ideally, 1 error should kill 1 block, suggesting that there are 47
times too many blocks for a desired rar size = 40mb, or block size
should be about 723236 bytes/block.
-
40mb rar may be a bit large. 20mb rar = blocksize 723236bytes/2 =
361618 bytes/block.
-
Anyway, 15388 bytes/block is too small, which makes each error too
costly, makes the par2 file too large, and makes each additional
"vol0000+0001.par2" too large. Suggest making each rar 20mb and
blocksize 361618 bytes.

Otherwise the post is fine and is downloading fine, and is far better
than any first post (including mine) that I have seen.

Thanks for posting!
