They're for use with the old BES-100 sys. They could be used by
specifying 'text' and entering the desired characters from the keyboard.

Brother ALSO sold sets of alphabetic characters as designs in multiple
formats. These could NOT be entered via keyboard, but simply included as
you would any other design.
