Do any of you know if Brother's PE software is required for a Brother
machine to link to my computer? I'm having to put everything on USB
thumb drives to load it to the machine. It would be so much easier and
faster if I could create the direct link between the machine and the
computer and make it work. I can link them by USB cable, but from
there I can't get anything to work. My machine is the PR1000. Thanks!

Your machine should have two different USB connections on it. One is for
mass memory storage (memkey) and the other is for file access on your
computer.
A folder (directory) should be set up on your PC for porting files over to
your PR-1000. This folder is a cloned copy of the the storage on the
embroidery machine. Drag and drop files into the PC folder and they will
magically appear in your embroidery machine
***PROVIDED THEY ARE FILE FORMATS THAT THE PR-1000 UNDERSTANDS!!****
Any other file formats will be invisible and never show up in the PR-1000.
